In this article, we present the benefits of Reality Twin™ in the dialogue between a production facility and contractors. The main characters of the article are Pertti and Heimo, maintenance managers working in different factories. Pertti and Heimo are seasoned professionals in their field but perform their jobs differently.

Custom orthotics are needed when it's already too late
It's 7:43 AM. In the far corner of the factory's office wing, Pertti, the factory's chief maintenance manager, is browsing through his emails. The factory's annual maintenance is underway, and the phone rings again.
The caller is a scaffolding contractor who says he is on the other side of the factory but can't find the right entrance. Apparently, there was some ambiguity in the work instructions as well, and the contractor is unsure which valves to build the scaffolding for. "I'll be there in fifteen minutes," Pertti says as he hangs up the phone.
As he puts down the receiver on his desk, Pertti's eye catches a flagged email. A week ago, another contractor had requested a work permit and instructions for the scheduled maintenance of a plate heat exchanger the next day. The matter has been left unresolved as finding the information has been challenging amidst the rush.
Pertti feels stressed thinking about the seemingly endless list of tasks to be handled. Fortunately, he remembered to switch to new, custom orthotics in his safety shoes this morning. There's going to be a lot of running soon.

On Friday evening, Pertti wants to relax. He heads to the local pub to watch the Finland game. He sits at the table of Heimo, the chief maintenance manager of a neighboring factory.
During breaks in the sports viewing, there's time to exchange work news. Pertti mentions that the annual maintenance was finally completed, but it wasn't easy. Heimo nods understandingly.
Heimo brings up how their factory was recently laser scanned, and it wasn't even expensive, and the data was added to the Reality Twin™ software. Since then, both nerves and money have been saved.
Heimo uses Reality Twin™ - be like Heimo!
Heimo explains how just the previous week he utilized Reality Twin with contractors as follows:
During the bidding phase, Heimo typically holds a meeting with contractors where the work site is reviewed using Reality Twin's user-friendly, factory-realistic 3D model and 360-degree images.
Last time, the meeting was about the valves to be serviced and the pumps to be replaced, but they also reviewed ATEX areas, extinguishers, and emergency showers. After the meeting, Heimo took screenshots from Reality Twin, found the documents linked to the equipment locations, and forwarded all the necessary information to the contractor.
As a result, the time spent in the field was significantly reduced, and there was even time to plan the next day's tasks.

Contractors have reported that precise and visual baseline data helps them create more accurate bids and better consider occupational safety issues. And when installation work is prepared according to the equipment foundations and the locations and elevations of new pipelines, extra costs during installation are avoided.
Heimo estimates that Reality Twin saves the factory over 100,000 euros annually in maintenance alone. The savings are based on higher-quality information that is easily and quickly accessible and shareable with stakeholders. In addition, there are at least equal savings in investment projects and occupational safety, which have now been better managed than before.
The only downside is that Heimo has had to go jogging more often because he doesn't have to run up and down the stairs at work as much as before.
